Translating iSupport for Young People

The original version of iSupport, developed by the World Health Organization, was designed for adult carers, not younger people. Many young people share the responsibility for caring for a family member living with dementia. These young people need to be fully informed about dementia and supported in their role. This adaptation of iSupport has been created by researchers at Bangor University, with the help of six young people between the ages of 11 and 17 who have first hand experience of helping care for a person with dementia.

We have collaborated with researchers in Brazil, Spain, and Italy, who have translated iSupport for Young People into Brazilian-Portuguese, Spanish, and Italian.

iSupport for Young People includes five topics:

  1. Introduction to dementia
  2. Being a caregiver
  3. Caring for me
  4. Providing everyday care
  5. Dealing with behaviour changes

You can choose to work through the topics and content in turn or select the topics that are the most relevant and useful to you.
